Bix Beiderbecke Memorial Jazz Festival
The Bix Jazz fest is a three day event that takes place in Davenport, Iowa, and is held in late July. The LeClaire Park bandshell is where you will have the opportunity to hear some of the finest Dixieland style jazz that the world has to offer.
The first Bix Fest was held in 1972, the same year the Bix Beiderbecke Memorial Society was founded, in Bix's hometown of Davenport, Iowa. This event was founded to help keep alive the memory and musical accomplishments of native son, Bix. Beiderbecke was a world famous cornetist, pianist and composer.
Held every year since that first festival, the “Bix Bash” draws thousands of fans from throughout the United States, and foreign countries where Bix is well known and revered as a jazz legend.
The festival is spread over four venues. With each venue, including the only outdoor one, LeClaire Park, on the river bank, in Davenport. They are easily accessible, and within walking distance of each other. You can listen to at least nine bands that alternate between venues. The concert prices are extremely reasonable.
