Col Ballroom

The Col Ballroom is an icon music world. In its’ hey day, the Col hosted many big name artists and bands.

The Col was home to concerts from Tommy Dorsey, Stan Kenton, Louis Armstrong and Frank Sinatra, to The Beach Boys, B.B King and even Jimi Hendrix and Marilyn Manson. Now that’s variety!

What is interesting about The Col playing host to the Beach Boys in 1963, is that this was their first ever tour out of California. They were traveling in a station wagon and U-Haul trailor with Murry Wilson driving.

The Col is one of Iowa’s oldest ballrooms, having been built in 1914. Today, it is still used for concerts and is available for private rental.
