Great River Tug Fest
Welcome
to the only tug-of-war across the mighty Mississippi River. For one day
in late July or early August, for a two hour period, all barge and
pleasure boat traffic is stopped on this section of the Mississippi
River for the war of two towns.
LeClaire, Iowa versus Port Byron
Illinois take to the shoreline and each grab hold of opposite ends of a
2,400 foot, 680 pound rope to battle it out for a years worth of
bragging rights!
Although
the actual tug-a-war takes place on one day, the festivities take place
over a two day period. Enjoy food, music, shopping in quant shops and
small town hospitality along the bend in the Mississippi River.
