Ya Maka My Weekend

Every August, as the heat settles into the District of Rock Island, so too do the reggae sounds of Jamaica and the Caribbean. Ya Maka My Weekend is a reggae festival that is one of the most popular summertime events in Rock Island.

The weekend is full of great music, Caribbean crafts and food. There is even a children’s village, a pirate contest, and tons of sand brought in for a huge sand volleyball tournament.

This is your opportunity to hear Reggae music played by musicians who hail from the islands, and experience the taste of Caribbean cooking.
